B Train – 7th Avenue to 42nd Street
A forty year old man is fiddling with his Blackberry. He has a slightly ratty Santa Barbara Athletic Club ballcap on, and a brown pinstripe suit jacket. His tartan scarf is orange and his silver wristwatch could double as a coaster. He presses a few buttons, removes his headphones, and places the phone to his ear. In a British accent: “Hullo sweetheart, it’s ten o’clockish, I’m just heading into town. Call you later.”
He hangs up, plugs the headphones back in, and presses play. As he was before, Jay-Z is quite audibly opining about his, and presumably this man’s, Hard Knock Life.
